CESVIMAP publishes a Road Traffic Accident Reconstruction Manual

CESVIMAP has been doing research into road traffic accidents, their causes and the circumstances surrounding them, since 1986. It has now published a complete book, the Road Traffic Accident Reconstruction Manual, which collects together these 20 years of experience and know-how, deriving from its research and training, from carrying out technical reports, and from analysis of physical fundamentals.
Aimed at appraisers, lawyers, judges, traffic police, fire fighters, researchers, technical training centres, and so on, this work analyses in detail the elements involved in traffic accidents, the characteristics of the thoroughfare and its surroundings, the stages of the accident, and the means of classification of the vehicles. Subsequently, it will be possible to catalogue accidents according to where they took place, the consequences, the number of vehicles involved or the manner in which they took place.
The book is a compendium of information for the researcher, whether a beginner or an expert. It describes in particular detail the methodology needed for data collection, so that the accident reconstruction expert will know how to carry out in situ measurements, or to draw up sketches and plans, with practical examples. Likewise, it gives an explanation of how to present the report in a court of law.
Road Traffic Accident Reconstruction Manual devotes a long section to pedestrian impact: sequences, classification and calculation techniques for these cases. It also includes research into fires, identifying the possible fire sources and indications which will allow determination of causes. Likewise, it describes other remains, such as the type of prints present and their significance, the importance of lamps – to analyse accidents taking place at night, for instance – or the identification of tyres.
CESVIMAP has already produced more than 48,000 copies of the 17 titles it has edited on the subject of vehicle appraisal and repair.
