What do we do?

CESVIMAP, Center for Experimentation and Road Safety MAPFRE, is the center of R & D for MAPFRE, and operates within the framework of MAPFRE Open Innovation (MOI), its model for collaborative innovation.
The aim of the centre is to make a contribution, from a global perspective, to the field of mobility.  More specifically and within a technical framework, it seeks to contribute to creating, developing, testing and implementing practical and innovative solutions that help MAPFRE lead the transformation of the insurance sector.
It is a technological center with a global reputation for the design, insurance, use, maintenance, repair and recycling of vehicles and other transport solutions for both goods and people. Its technological research is focused on reducing accident rates, and defining more efficient repair processes, lowering their costs. The center serves as the MAPFRE research laboratory on new products and services based on the Usage Based Insurance (UBI), the ADAS (Advance Driver Assistance Systems), the analysis of the consequences of the crash tests, and the reconstruction of traffic accidents, among other activities.
CESVIMAP addresses environmental and other social goals through the creation of innovative formulas within the insurance field, maintaining its activities in the field of R+D, Innovation, Consultancy, Training, contributing to the diffusion of knowledge and promoting  the circular economy by managing the end of vehicle life cycles.
Created in 1983, CESVIMAP enjoys nowadays a worldwide reputation for innovation. Since its inception, it has created a further six centers embodying the CESVI philosophy:  in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, France and Mexico.  Each of these centers aspire to contribute in the present to a safer future.

Quality and Environment

In its very earliest days, CESVIMAP decided to put its weight behind quality in the areas of research, publications, services for repair shops and training, and it has developed all its activities with maximum respect towards the environment and its protection. This was the reason why CESVIMAP management decided, in 2001, to push for the deployment of a Quality Control Management System, and to certify the training activities performed in its facilities at Calle Jorge de Santayana, 18 in the city of Ávila, Spain.
This certification, in accordance to the ISO 9001 standard, means the recognition of CESVIMAP’s creative skill in adapting itself to the needs of the client and prepare ad hoc training programmes within the sphere of the automotive sector; this skill is based on our own know-how and methods, taken from our experimental work. This is the base on which CESVIMAP organises everything that is needed to undertake this training and to carry out monitoring of how it is rolled out and of its results; the objective is ongoing improvement in its training capacity and to satisfy the ever more demanding requirements of its clients.
A year later, CESVIMAP certified its Environmental Management System in accordance with ISO 14001 standard, in this same centre; this meant the recognition of CESVIMAP’s action in compliance with the legal requirements made of it and with the environmental commitments established each year, within the framework of its commitment to the prevention of environmental contamination and to protection of the environment.

CESVIMAP quality control and environmental policy

CESVIMAP applies a comprehensive System for environmental and quality control management in its Ávila I facilities and keeps the system up to date. This system is applied to CESVIMAP‘s face to face training activities in the field of the automobile.

In the sphere of quality control management, CESVIMAP pursues the fundamental policy of satisfying the expectations of its clients, providing products and services with a high level of technical quality, at prices and with delivery terms which are competitive within the market.  Within this context, CESVIMAP commits itself to:
     • Finding out the needs and demands of the market in general and of our clients in particular, and incorporating their requirements into our work processes.
     • To make every effort always to achieve a high degree of satisfaction for our clients, with the services we offer.
     • Constantly to improve how we work so as to be more efficient in offering solutions to our clients.
In the field of environmental management, CESVIMAP takes on the fundamental commitment of preventing contamination and of continuously seeking solutions to reduce the adverse environmental impacts of its processes and products. Specifically, CESVIMAP commits itself to:
     • Complying at all times to the requirements of the environmental regulations applicable, as well as to other requisites relating to the particular environmental implications of our activity, which CESVIMAP may subscribe.
     • To promote energy efficiency in its facilities, to reduce, as far as possible, the waste and emissions generated by our activities and to include environmental criteria in the products and services which it offers to its clients.
     • To maintain an open and collaborative relationship with public bodies, our neighbours and other groups interested in our activities.

To achieve all the above, CESVIMAP has the most suitable working means and a highly qualified and motivated human team at its disposal. This team is constantly undergoing further professional development to improve the performance of its training activities and of its environmental commitments.
CESVIMAP commits itself to comply with the requisites for environmental and quality control management established in UNE-EN ISO 14001 and UNE-EN ISO 9001 standards, respectively, and to continuously improve the efficiency of its comprehensive management System.
This policy is understood, established and kept up to date by all the levels of the organisation, aware that these targets are only attainable with the commitment of all.
The management of CESVIMAP commits itself to apply and give its support to this policy and assumes the responsibilities which are within its remit in applying this policy.
