Targets: Driving assistance systems use the combination of different technologies to achieve precise operation. They are possible thanks to the implementation of new sensors (radars, cameras), state-of-the-art processors, high-speed multiplexed networks, which allow the different control units of the vehicle to interact (engine management, brakes, steering, driving assistance , etc.) and very sophisticated software. We will know its operation, composition and how its increasing inclusion affects the repair processes of the workshop.

• What are ADAS and what types of driver assistance systems exist.
• What sensors do they use, their physical properties and where they are located.
• Influence on the repair of other components (replacement of windows, repair of bumpers, partial disassembly …).
• Cost of these sensors and in which situations it is necessary to replace or repair them.
• Calibration types and equipment, prices, components and work methodology.
• Calibration processes for cameras, front and side radars and 360˚ vision cameras.

Contents:

1. ADAS systems: utility, description of components, operation and types.
2. Types of cameras on windshields (mono / stereo, night vision), types of radars (radio waves or light or wave camera / radar set). Electric system.
3. Static and dynamic calibration of sensors, cameras and radars. Need for calibration. Calibration times. Universal equipment.
4. Parking assistance cameras: 360˚ vision and reversing cameras.
