Bumper test

DefaultAlt

Today the majority of vehicles are fitted with a series of parts which are designed to minimise damage in minor crashes. However, the lack of uniformity of these designs reduces their effectiveness. To encourage manufacturers to unify and optimise these designs and reduce repair costs for minor knocks, CESVIMAP, within the framework of RCAR, has designed a test, called "Bumper test" which consists of an impact, at low speed (10 kph) in which the effectiveness of the impact absorbing crossbars in front and rear collisions is evaluated.

This tests enables, thus, valuation of the effectiveness of the design of each model and the results are applied directly to the premium for the auto insurance.
